TUESDAY 2-28-17

ASK ME ABOUT...

~STAR OF THE WEEK~
Anahí is our "Star of the Week".  We learned that Anahí's favorite food is cherry ice cream and she wants to be a princess police officer when she grows up.  Along with her photos, Anahí shared her soccer trophy and a favorite story about Fancy Nancy.


~BIRTHDAY~
Today, both Pre-K classes helped Mr. Ditty celebrate his half-birthday.  We really surprised him! 


~OUTER SPACE~
We are practicing a song to help us remember that the Earth turns around and travels around the sun and the moon travels around the Earth.
Each child will make one of the models in the photo below to help demonstrate how the Earth turns around and travels around the sun and how the moon goes around the Earth.
~HANDWRITING~
Today we learned and practiced how to write the letters I and T.

THRILLING THURSDAY 2-23-17

ASK ME ABOUT...
...playing in our Pre-K Space Station.
...what makes day and night.
...what book I checked out from the library.
...what Mrs. Arner read to us today at the library.


~OUTER SPACE~
During this short week, we have "blasted off" into our study of Outer Space.
The children are enjoying learning and asking some good questions about Outer Space!

 After reading a story about day and night, we learned a song to help us remember that it takes the Earth 1 day to make 1 complete turn; it takes the moon 1 month to travel around the Earth and it takes the Earth 1 year to travel around the sun.

~BIRTHDAY~
We made a card and sang our birthday song to Mrs. Harris today to help her celebrate her February birthday.  Mrs. Harris is our favorite substitute teacher!  We also gave her a big group birthday hug!

TERRIFIC TUESDAY 2-21-17

 ~BIRTHDAY~
Today we helped Olivia celebrate her half birthday.  Olivia brought in a book about the planets to share with the class.   Then, we enjoyed some yummy fruit (including chocolate-covered strawberries) for her birthday treat.  Happy Half-Birthday, Olivia!





 ~EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
Today was a cooking day and we made celebration cookies in honor of Katelyn joining our class.

 ~100th DAY OF SCHOOL~
Each child had a turn to share the 100 items he/she brought in.  All of the bags are now on display in our classroom.

 

 ~VALENTINE ACTIVITIES~
In the photos below, children are constructing using soft, red candy hearts and toothpicks.







 In the photos below, children predict/estimate how many candy hearts will fit into the heart on their paper.  After recording their guess, children fill in the heart with candy hearts to discover if their guess was more, less or equal to the actual number of hearts.
