THRILLING THURSDAY 3-2-17

ASK ME ABOUT...
...our new Work Stations.
...the Dr. Seuss story we read--There's A Wocket In My Pocket.
...the "cat in the hat" snack I made and ate.
...the video we watched about the planets.
...the story, Poor Pluto

~FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
We added new materials to our Construction Zone--straws and connectors.  The children are really engrossed in discovering how to build with these materials.

Carter works on isolating and identifying the beginning sounds he hears in various objects.  He then places the object into the correct letter pocket.

~NEW WORK STATIONS~
On Thursday, we started a new set of work stations.  Check out in the photos below what we are doing!

At the Writing Station, children are practicing their number writing.

At the Discovery Station, children are creating a model of the sun, the moon and the Earth to represent how each travels.
At the Listening Station, children listen to the story, Giggle, Giggle, Quack, and then report on their favorite part of the story.

At the Alphabet Station, children draw 2 pictures of things that begin with the /J/ sound and label the pictures using their sight word knowledge and/or inventive spelling.
At the Fine Motor Station, children practice their cutting skills.

At Math Magic, children create a planet pattern.
At the Sensory Tub, children find 10 "outer space" objects and then graph them.

~DR. SEUSS~
In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday today, we made a "cat in the hat" snack with red jell-o and whipped topping and ate it for snack.  We also read the story, There's A Wocket In My Pocket, by Dr. Seuss.

~OUTER SPACE~
We read a story about Pluto written by 3rd grade students in California which included information on why Pluto is not longer considered a planet.
