MONDAY 11-7-16 AND TUESDAY 11-8-16

MARVELOUS MONDAY
ASK ME ABOUT...
...what book Mrs. Arner read to us at the library.
...what book I checked out from the library.
...the new password.
...the new "Star of the Week".
...new activities at Free Choice time.
...how we decorated the letter H.

~FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
Jordan works on a magnetic mosaic.

Andrew and Ruth work on patterns in the new pattern trays.

 ~STAR OF THE WEEK~
This week, Ms. Penney is the "Star of the Week".  She shared some things about herself and some photos of her family and friends.  Be sure to ask your child what he/she learned about Ms. Penney.

Each Pre-K child will have a chance to be the "Star of the Week" (or "Shining Star").  When it is your child's turn,  he/she will bring home a special bag with a note explaining how to prepare for being "Star of the Week".  This is a great way to help our community get to know one another better and to make connections.

We decorated the letter "H" and "h" with hearts!

TERRIFIC TUESDAY  11-8-16
ASK ME ABOUT...
...what we voted on in our classroom today.
...going "shopping" for the family we are helping for the holiday season.
...the story, Somewhere Today~A book of peace.
...what number we learned and practiced writing.
...the 2 pictures I drew that begin with the /D/ sound.
...what we did in P.E.

~ELECTION DAY~
Since today is election day, we decided to conduct our own voting experience in our Pre-K classroom.  This morning, children took turns voting for what they would like our Dramatic Play Station to be---a veterinarian's office or a school.  Be sure to ask your child the outcome of today's voting!
 Our "voting booth"...
 Our ballot...
After he/she voted, each child received a "I voted today!" sticker.
 ~KIDS 4 KIDS~
This morning, the Pre-K children went "shopping" for the family we have adopted to help during the holidays.  Working with a partner, children were given a "shopping guide" for the items needed for our family.

~PRE-K ALPHABET MEMORY BOOK~
Throughout this school year, we will be collecting and keeping samples of your child's work as well as photographs of special events in Pre-K.  These items will be bound into a memory book for each child to take home at the end of the school year.  For the letter "D", children came up with 2 things to draw that begin with the /D/ sound.    We will share these with you at our upcoming conference.
 ~NUMBER WRITING~
Today we learned and practiced the correct way to write a number 5.
 ~PEACE~
Tomorrow (Wednesday) morning, we will visit a peace exhibit at our school with our 3rd grade buddies.  To help prepare us for this visit, we read the story, Somewhere Today~A Book of Peace.

~EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
We went out to visit our tree this afternoon to observe and discuss any changes since our last visit.  The children noticed most of the leaves had changed to yellow and many of the leaves on the very top of the tree have fallen off.
