TERRIFIC TUESDAY 11-1-16

ASK ME ABOUT...
...the new password.
...the story, Dog's Colorful Day.
...what I did in P.E.
...the mixing color activity we did.
...guessing the circumference of a pumpkin.
...what letter we decorated and what we used to decorate it.

 ~LETTER DECORATING~
Today we decorated the letter "L" with ladybugs!

 ~COLORS~
We read the story, Dog's Colorful Day twice today.  The second time we read it, the children helped tell the story using props.  This story is now available in the Book Nook for the children to retell during Free Choice time.

We took a look at the color wheel today and discussed primary colors (red, yellow, blue) and secondary colors (green, purple, orange).

We experimented with mixing colors this morning.  Be sure to ask your child what happens when you mix...

red and yellow.
red and blue.
blue and yellow.
red and white.
black and white.
red, blue and yellow.

 ~PUMPKIN MATH~
Children cut a piece of yarn to represent their estimation of the circumference of a pumpkin.  After measuring the pumpkin with a piece of yarn, the children determined if their estimation was the same size, longer than or shorter than the actual size.
