Pre-K "A"

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY 9-14-16

ASK ME ABOUT...
...celebrating our first Zero the Hero Day!
...what we did to celebrate Zero the Hero Day.
...the story, Chrysanthemum.
...what I did in P.E. class.
...covering my name with dot stickers.

~FREE CHOICE~
It is rewarding to observe the friendships that are forming among our Pre-K "A" community.  Our daily "Free Choice" time provides the children with the opportunity to interact with and get to know one another.

 ~ZERO THE HERO DAY!~
On Wednesday, we celebrated the 10th day of school and our first Zero the Hero Day!

We traded in our 10 yellow "single cubes" for one "ten-rod".
In our pocket chart, we now have one "ten-rod" and zero single cubes.  Since there were zero single cubes, "Zero the Hero" is placed in the pocket on the far right.
We filled up our first 10-frame.

Zero the Hero came to meet us!

Carter and his parents provided us with a fun activity to celebrate our first Zero the Hero Day.  Each child decorated his/her own cape.  The "zero" in this project can be found in the neck of the cape.  Have your child show you!  Thank you for a wonderful activity to help us celebrate!

~NAMES~
We read a story about a child with 13 letters in her name!  We then discussed how many letters were in each of our names.

~EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
Wednesday was Discovery Day!  First, we read the story, A Tree Is Nice.  Next, we went outside to search for and choose a tree close to our Pre-K playground that we can visit and watch throughout the school year.  Right now, we noticed that our tree has leaves that are green and it is tall.  We will visit our class tree periodically throughout the school year to observe the changes that occur.

THRILLING THURSDAY 9-15-16

ASK ME ABOUT...
...the story, Waiting Is Not Easy
 ...what I did in Spanish.
...how many letters are in my first name.
...the planting we did.

OUTDOOR PLAY
During our outdoor play today, we potted a small plant that we will take care of in our classroom this year.  We will observe and document its growth.

~NAMES~
As a follow-up to yesterday's story, Chrysanthemum, we graphed how many letters are in our own names.
 STORYTIME
Today we read a great story about the difficulty of waiting for something but the excitement one feels when the waiting is over.  A GREAT story!!!!
 MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY
Today marks the the start of the celebration of Mexican Independence Day.  Through photos, we discussed what happens during this celebration.
