WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY 10-26-16

...what we used to decorate the letter G and g.
...what numbers I learned and practiced writing.

 ~NUMBER WRITING~
We learned and practiced writing the numbers 3 and 4.

~FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
Following are some new activities introduced during Free Choice time.

Our new "name detective" activity has been a huge hit!
Around the classroom are stars with the children's names on them.  Using a "recording sheet", Children search the classroom for the names and highlight each name on a recording sheet.  There are even special glasses the children can wear when searching for the names.

During the month of October, we have been learning a pumpkin poem.  This week children can "illustrate" the poem.

Decorating the letter "G" with gold glitter.

Ruth and Andrew play a new pumpkin game.

THRILLING THURSDAY 10-27-16
ASK ME ABOUT...
...where we did P.E. and what we did.
...how many days we've been in school.
...what we did to celebrate Zero the Hero Day!
...the story, Cat's Colors.
...the graph we did on favorite colors.

~FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
Nola counts the pumpkins in the counting basket.  There were 100!
Andrew exercises his spatial reasoning skills.
 ~COLORS~
We read the story, Cat's Colors, and learned Cat's favorite color.  Then, we made a graph of our classmates' favorite colors.
Ask your child to tell you about our color graph.  In class, we discussed the concepts of most, least and equal and applied them to our graph.

 ~ZERO THE HERO~
We celebrated our 40th day of school today!  Ruth's family provided us with zero-shaped photo frames to decorate to help us celebrate.  Thank you for a fun activity!

We now have four ten-rods in our pocket!
We have filled up four ten-frames with star stickers!

 ~EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
Today was a Discovery Day and we made flubber.  We mixed together water, liquid glue and liquid starch.  We also added some glitter to the mixture.  The children enjoyed observing the mixture change from a liquid to a solid.
